In the autumn
I meant to call them
But the time just slipped away

Then Fall got bitter
and turned to winter
And I missed another holiday

The seeds we planted
we take for granted
Until they come up bearing fruit

Let them grow and then
we plant the seeds again
Hoping this time they take root

So this November
I will remember
And I’ll call them just to say

Thanks for giving me
a life worth living
And for showing me the way

All I’m longing for
is to be home once more
And have a weekend just to stay

Thanks for all the love you gave me
for all the times you forgave me
And for another Thanksgiving Day

In the autumn breeze
leaves fall from the trees
And seem to fly so far away

But when the spring arrives
they all spring back to life
And grow like flowers do…
